PH Consulate General in Chongqing Welcomes PEZA DG, PTIC-Shanghai, and Aboitiz Infracapital Execs; Co-Organizes PH-China Investment Meeting
18 March 2025, Chongqing. Philippine Consul General Ivan Frank M. Olea welcomes Director General Tereso O. Panga of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), Vice Consul Commercial Jose Ma. Dinsay of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Shanghai, and Vice President Monica Lorenzana Trajano of Aboitiz Infracapital for a PH-China Investment Meeting. The presentations at the event discussed the new investment incentives under the CREATE MORE law of the Philippines, the benefits of working with PEZA and Aboitiz Infracapital, and legal considerations for such investments.
The roundtable meeting at the Wudu Hotel in the Yuzhong District of Chongqing attracted 70 participants from 55 companies in Chongqing and Chengdu. The Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing and PTIC-Shanghai partnered with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (Chongqing Committee) and ZHH Corporate Law Firm to draw a large attendance.

Chongqing PCG Showcases The Philippines in the 28th Urban Cultural Tourism Festival
28 March 2025, Chongqing. The Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing (Chongqing PCG), through the support of the Philippine Department of Tourism in Shanghai (PDOT-Shanghai), showcased the Philippines in the 28th Urban Cultural Tourism Festival at the renowned Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street of Chongqing.
This year’s tourism festival had the theme of “Happy City.” From 28 to 30 March 2025, shoppers, tourists, and residents learned more about the tourism destinations in the Philippines. They were wowed by “Love the Philippines” videos and brochures provided by PDOT-Shanghai. Visitors to the booth also enjoyed pineapples from the Philippines, courtesy of S&W. END
Consul General Ivan Frank Olea Visits Chairman Li Xinghua of Panhua Group
6 March 2025, Chongqing - Philippine Consul General Ivan Frank Olea visited Panhua Group Chairman Mr. Li Xinghua at their company’s steel plant in Fuling District. Consul General Olea was given a tour of the massive steel sheet factory which exports its products to many countries in the world, and was informed that the planned investment in a steel manufacturing plant in Maasin, Sarangani Province would be several times bigger and will be the first comprehensive steel plant in the Philippines.
The first phase of the steel manufacturing plant in Maasin is scheduled to start in the 2nd QTR of this year and would employ about 6,000 Filipino workers. By the end of the 2nd phase of construction, the manufacturing plant would employ an estimated 20,000 Filipino workers. At the end of the 3rd and final phase, the plant is projected to produce about 10 million tons of steel products a year.
Chairman Li sees many investment opportunities in the Philippines and has taken the initiative to encourage Chinese enterprises to invest in the country. END.
