Chongqing, 17 September 2023. – The Philippine Consulate General welcomed today new, returning and longstanding members of the Filipino community to its third quarter Filipino Community Fellowship at former’s official premises in Chongqing.  Other Filipino communities in Kunming, Yunnan Province and Chengdu, Sichuan Province were represented virtually via Zoom.

Highlighted by a discussion by Mr. Guo Yuanpei, First Level Section Staff of the Foreign Experts Affairs Section-Chongqing Foreign Experts Bureau, the event clarified procedures and requirements for securing the so-called “Foreign Expert Certificate” which is pre-requisite to obtaining a residence permit.  In his presentation, Mr. Guo mentioned that there were currently 34 Filipinos in Chongqing holding valid Foreign Expert Certificates, most of them teachers.

The quarterly gathering is also an occasion to keep the Filipino community abreast of the Philippine Consulate’s activities outside consular services, including the latter’s economic, cultural and public diplomacy initiatives through the Consul General’s Ulat Sa Bayan.  At the same time, Vice Consul Adrian G. Miras presented reminders on consular services and updates on community affairs.

Both Filipino community participants and Mr. Guo of the Chongqing Foreign Experts Bureau appreciated the platform provided by the Consulate General to share vital information on living and working in China.  END
