Consulate General in Chongqing conducts consular outreach, celebrates Kalayaan 2023 in Kunming
Kunming, Yunnan Province, 24 June 2023 – The Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing conducted today a consular mission in Kunming, Yunnan Province. The four-part outreach program consisted of citizen services, a film showing, the 2nd Quarter Filipino Community Fellowship and an evening program celebrating the 125th anniversary of Philippine Independence.
In a post-pandemic first, the consular mission delivered citizen services covering passports, notarials, civil registration, and overseas voter registration. The Philippine Consulate General also took the opportunity to conduct its 2nd Quarter Filipino Community Fellowship, which was attended onsite by Filipinos in Kunming and online by those in Chongqing.
On the same afternoon, Consul General Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo delivered her quarterly Ulat sa Bayan on the Consulate’s activities and initiatives since the first quarter of 2023. Vice Consul Adrian G. Miras announced important updates and reminders on the Consulate General’s citizen and visa services.
In commemoration of Jose Rizal’s 162nd birth anniversary and Kalayaan 2023, the Consulate General partnered with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and Sentro Rizal to screen a short film by Nicolas Pichay, entitled Rizal’s Pen. The film paid homage to the national hero from the vantage point of a young man who traced Rizal’s life and works from early childhood to his martyrdom. The film’s moving end uplifted the community’s Filipino spirit and set the tone for the lively evening program that capped this year’s Philippine Independence Day Celebration in Kunming. END
