PH National Arts Month in Chongqing celebrates multi-awarded Filipino artist Jensen Moreno
Chongqing, 06 February 2023 – To celebrate the Philippine National Arts Month, the Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing hosted Ms. Jensen Moreno in conjunction with an art salon that spotlights the Beijing-based Filipino artist.
Organized by HK VA Galleries, the art salon provided the opportunity for Ms. Moreno to speak about the creative process behind her art works that remain on display in Chongqing including The Golden Tulip, Year of Tiger and On the Surface. Ms. Jensen was among the featured artists in the Philippine Consulate General’s Philippine Contemporary Art Group Exhibition held in November 2022 and the Philippine Arts and Crafts Exhibition in January 2023.
Consul General Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo capped the discussion with a background to the Philippines’ National Arts Month and the various influences that helped shape the country’s vibrant visual arts. She appreciated Ms. Moreno’s passion for the arts and the featured artist’s untiring promotion of Filipino artistry in China.
On behalf of the Philippine Consulate General, Ms. Mayo also received Ms. Jensen’s donation of her newest oil on canvas piece called The Philippine Sunflower as her contribution to said foreign service post’s collection of cultural showpieces.
“VA Galleries’ art salon and Ms. Jensen’s thoughtful gift to the Philippine Consulate kicked off the observance of our National Arts Month in Chongqing. We celebrate Ms. Jensen’s Filipino artistry and our partnership with VA Galleries’ Mr. Vincent Deng who, demonstrably, has become a fan of Philippine visual arts. We are grateful to both for supporting the promotion of Philippine culture in Chongqing,” the Consul General remarked. END
