PH Consulate General, Local Aviation Officials Explore Direct Flights Between the PH and Chongqing

Chongqing, 17 August 2022 – Philippine Consul General Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo met with Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport’s Vice General Manager, Mr. Huang Qing, and Deputy Manager of Marketing Department, Mr. He Lu; Chongqing Municipal Ports and Logistics Office’s Deputy Director General, Mr. Wang Jin, and Aviation and Logistics Division Inspector, Mr. Yuan Yuan; and Chongqing-Air Asia’s Ms. Jennifer Luo to discuss the proposed opening of a direct flight between Chongqing and the Philippines.

Mr. Huang and Mr. Wang presented Chongqing’s key economic features, including its huge population (32 million), massive land area (83,000 km2), and its prime position as a logistics hub in western China. Both sides shared ideas to carry the proposal forward and exchanged views on the international travel outlook.

“We welcome efforts to boost Philippine tourism, trade and investments by way of the diversification of direct travel between the Philippines and China. The proposed direct route from Chongqing to the Philippines aligns with the economic interests of both sides and merits prompt study by relevant agencies,” Consul General Flerida Ann Camille P.
