Chinese attraction to Philippine sun and sea rekindled at Chongqing’s 3-Day Tourism Fair

04 July 2022, Chongqing – The Philippines took part in the three-day 2022 Chongqing International Urban Cultural and Tourism Consumption Festival held at the Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street, Yuzhong District, Chongqing, from 01 to 03 July 2022.

In its large-format photo booth, the Philippine Consulate General transported visitors to Boracay and Palawan for a make-believe vacation, courtesy of the Philippine Department of Tourism in Shanghai. Visitors to the booth were treated to samples of coconut water and Pong Pong Banana Chips, both made in the Philippines.  The Consulate team took the occasion to present the Philippines’ top destinations as well as the latest travel and visa information to the Chinese visitors, in anticipation of the eventual easing of travel restrictions by the Chinese government.

“The Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street is a prime location for any promotion that targets not only Chongqing but also other provincial markets.  We are hopeful that the response to the Philippines’ display at this Tourism Consumption Festival will translate to actual travel to our islands as soon as travel conditions permit,” said Philippine Consul General Flerida A.C.P. Mayo at the close of the Festival.  END
