PH CONSULATE GENERAL PLANTS TREES WITH CONSULAR CORPS FOR CQ’S 44 TH ARBOR DAY
22 February 2022, Chongqing – In commemoration of the 44th China Arbor Day, Philippine Consul General Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo joined the representatives of other Consulates General in Chongqing in a tree-planting activity at the International Friendship Park within Hongyan Park, Yuzhong District, Chongqing today. The event was co-organized by the Foreign Affairs Office of the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government (CQFAO) and the Chongqing Yuzhong District People’s Government (YZDPG).
The participants were welcomed by the organizers, as well as by select pupils of the Hongyan Primary School (top left photo). With the theme, “Building a Bridge of Diplomatic Ties for a Long-Lasting Friendship,” the International Friendship Park Tree-Planting Event started with a formal launching ceremony (top center photo), followed by the actual tree-planting activity, in which each participant was assigned a tree to plant on a specific area within the park. Consul General Mayo (top right photo) planted a plum blossom tree, which is widely grown in China and has been depicted in potteries and other artistic works due to its aesthetics.
For this afternoon’s activity alone, around twenty (20) trees were jointly planted by the participating consular representatives, local government officials and pupils (bottom left photo). A marker (bottom right photo) was also placed to commemorate today’s occasion, affirming the objective of not only planting trees but also “building ties for friendship and close relations between Chongqing and the World.” (Photos are from the organizers)
