Chongqing PCG and Chongqing FilCom Learn the Kappa Malong Malong Dance through the DFA’s Online Workshop

11 September 2021 – The Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing and members of the Filipino community in Chongqing were among the happy participants in the “Move with Malong: An Online Cultural Workshop” at 10:00 AM today. The two-hour online event was initiated by the Department of Foreign Affairs-Office of Public and Cultural Diplomacy, with the aim of raising awareness of Philippine pre-colonial history by demonstrating, in an interactive lesson, the Kappa Malong Malong Dance of the Maranao people of Mindanao. The dance features the many ways of wearing the “malong,” a simple tubular yet highly functional piece of cloth. Filipino communities from all over the world participated simultaneously in the online cultural workshop. END
