Focus on Trade, Investment and Filipino Workers in Chongqing as PH Consul General Mayo and Chongqing Foreign Affairs Director General Zhang Meet

CHONGQING 07 July 2021 – Philippine Consul General to Chongqing Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo paid a courtesy call on Chongqing Foreign Affairs Office (CQFAO) Director General Zhang Yongwu on 07 July 2021 at the FAO Building, the first by Consul General Mayo since assuming her post.
The 3.5-hour long engagement covered topics important to both sides. The Consul General presented specific concerns of Filipino workers in Chongqing and conveyed a keen interest in broadening trade and investment partnerships between the Philippines and China. She cited existing bilateral agreements that led to mutually beneficial joint ventures.
For his part, Director General Zhang received the Consul General’s representations with assurances of his assistance. Mr. Zhang highlighted Chongqing’s important role in China’s development including through the Chengdu-Chongqing Twin City Economic Circle. He extended an invitation to the various events being organized by the municipality in support of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan.
“I feel like old friends at our first meeting,” Mr. Zhang told Consul General Mayo. The positive vibe from their cordial meeting bodes well for closer cooperation between the Philippine Consulate General and the Foreign Affairs Office in Chongqing. END
