Inclusion of Pakistan, Jamaica, Luxembourg, Oman, and China to the Travel Restriction Relative to the SARS-COV-2 Variant first detected in the United Kingdom
In addition to the advisories of the relevant Philippine Government agencies and of the Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing in the previous days concerning the travel restrictions for those traveling from countries and jurisdictions with detected SARS-COV-2 variants from the United Kingdom (and South Africa), the Consulate would like to convey the following relevant provisions of the update/announcement made today:
- Foreign passengers coming from or who have been to Pakistan, Jamaica, Luxembourg, Oman, and the People’s Republic of China within 14 days immediately preceding arrival in the Philippines shall be prohibited from entering the country effective 12:01 p.m. of 13 January 2021Manila time until 15 January 2021, without prejudice to the extension of such period upon approval of the IATF.
- Effective immediately, foreign passengers coming from, or who have been to the aforesaid countries/jurisdictions within 14 days immediately preceding arrival in the Philippines, arriving before 12:01 p.m. of 13 January 2021 Manila time, shall not be prohibited from entering the Philippines but shall undergo an absolute facility-based 14-day quarantine period notwithstanding a negative Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) result.
- Likewise effective immediately, Filipino citizens coming from, or who have been to the aforesaid countries/jurisdictions within 14 days immediately preceding arrival in the Philippines, including those arriving after 12:01 p.m. of 13 January 2021 Manila time, shall not be prohibited from entering the country, but shall be required to undergo an absolute facility-based 14-day quarantine period notwithstanding a negative RT-PCR result.
- Filipino and foreign passengers merely transiting through the aforesaid countries/jurisdictions shall be covered by the rules as provided in paragraph II of the Memorandum of the Executive Secretary dated 31 December 2020.
- The rules on incoming unaccompanied minor Filipino passengers as provided in paragraph II of the Memorandum of the Executive Secretary, dated 05 January 2021 shall also apply to such passengers coming from or who have been to the aforesaid countries/jurisdictions, with the prohibition on entry taking effect on 12:01 p.m. of 13 January2021 Manila time.
Existing prohibitions and procedures on entry generally applicable to arriving passengers insofar as consistent with the foregoing, shall continue to be implemented.
