22 November 2019, Chongqing. The presidential son and Davao City Vice Mayor Sebastian Z. Duterte, together with his delegation consisting, among others, of some Davao City councilors, came to Chongqing for an official visit upon the invitation of Chinese Consul General to Davao, Mr. Li Lin.

The delegation arrived in Chongqing on 19 November 2019 for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Chongqing Municipality and Davao City on the establishment of Sister City Relationship. Chongqing was represented by Vice Mayor Xiong Xue in the signing.

The signing ceremony was attended by the following Chongqing officials: 1) Wang Jue, Deputy Director General of the Chongqing Commission of Commerce; 2) Qin Dingbo, Deputy Director General of the Chongqing Commission of Culture and Tourism; 3) Wang Guangcheng, Deputy Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office; and 4) Deng Wennian, Vice Chairperson of the China (Chongqing) Council for the Promotion of International Trade. Consul General Li Lin and Vice Consul Cao Jianwei of the Chinese Consulate General in Davao was likewise present.

The Memorandum of Understanding is deemed to be a necessary initial step toward the forging of a sister city agreement between Chongqing and Davao City, and its signing signify the intention of the two parties to enter into a sister city agreement eventually.

The other activities included a meeting with the local businessmen to attract investors to Davao, as well as visits to Longxin Motorcycle, Guoyuan Port, and Jinkang New Energy Motors. END
