8th Chongqing International Cultural Industry Expo 2019

15 September 2019, Chongqing. The Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing participates in the 8th Chongqing International Cultural Industry Expo 2019, a four-day event organized by Chongqing Daily News Group in support of the Publicity Department of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and Chongqing Culture and Tourism Development Committee. The Expo was held at the Chongqing Yuelai International Convention Center on 12-15 September 2019.

On 12 September, the undersigned attended the opening ceremony. The guest speaker of the Expo was Vice Mayor Pan Yiqin of the Chongqing Municipal Government. Also present during the opening ceremony were Chongqing Foreign Affairs Office Deputy Director General Tang Wen and the Chongqing Culture and Tourism Development Committee Deputy Director General Zhu Mao. Representatives of other Consulates General were also present at the event.

The Philippines’ tourism posters and materials, which were sent by Philippine Department of Tourism Shanghai Office, were displayed at the Philippine booth, to further promote Philippine tourist destinations. Also on display were Philippine-made products, such as hand-woven bags, clothes, accessories, Benguet coffee and Malagos chocolate to showcase Filipino creativity and world-class products. These products were previously donated by the International Bazaar Foundation (IBF) to Post, which was chosen by the IBF as one of the beneficiaries of its “Little Box Project”. The Philippine-brand Oishi also joined Post in its booth by displaying its products like Philippine mango juice and snacks.

The Philippine booth was placed beside the booths of the other Consulate Generals in Chongqing and Chengdu which also participated in the expo, namely Australia, Hungary, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands, and United Kingdom inside the N2 Hall, which was designated as the international culture hall of the Belt and Road. Post, along with the other participating Consulates General, received a cultural creativity award from the organizer. END
