Philippines Wins Third Prize to 2019 World Adolescent Robotics Competition

2019 World Adolescent Robotic Competition

Chongqing, 21 August 2019. The Philippine team won third prize for both the WRO Regular Elementary and WRO Regular High categories of the 2019 World Adolescent Robotics Competition, which was held at the Chongqing International Exhibition Convetion on 13-16 August 2019.

The event was co-organized by the China Association for Science and Technology and the Chongqing Municipal government and has attracted 113 teams from 30 countries and regions consisting of elementary and high school students competing in different categories on robotics engineering technology.

The different provinces and cities in China were represented in the competition. The Philippines was among the 30 foreign countries such as Afghanistan, Belarus, Chile, Columbia, Croatia, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Mexico, Mongolia, Paraguay, Pery, ROK, Romania, Russia, Thailand Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, UAE represented to the said competition

The Pitogo High School of Makati (PITOGO Thunderbots which won the third prize of the WRO Regular High is composed of three (3) students: Nathaniel Macato, Marc Francis Largo and Nygel Angelo Bunagan, with their coach Mr. Florante Ferrer. The team members of the Project 6 Quezon City Elementary which won third prize of the WRO Regular Elementary category are Joseph Ysrael Cariso, Armando Estanislao Jr., and Jeu Fem Foor and their coach is Ms. Sheila Roa.

The whole Philippine contingent composed of fourteen (14) students and ten (10) coaches and chaperons,together with Consulate staff visited the Consulate on 16 August 2019 and together with Consulate staff had a simple victory celebration of pizza and spaghetti. END
