PH CONSULATE GENERAL IN CHONGQING PARTICIPATES IN INFO EVENT FOR CHINESE TRAVELLERS
Chongqing, 19 July 2019 — The Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing participated in an information dissemination event for Chinese travelers organized by the Foreign Affairs Office (FAO) of the Chongqing Municipal Government at the Yuzhong District on 19 July 2019.
Entitled “Safe and Civilized Outbound Travel for Chinese Citizens” and co-organized by FAO Yuzhong District, the event aims to give important information to the Chinese travelers for their safe travel abroad. The event was attended by local officials, representatives of different Consulates General based in Chongqing, media, and the public.
In her remarks, FAO-Chongqing Deputy Director General Wang Wen reminded Chongqing citizens to prepare well for their outbound tourist activities, including understanding relevant information about their destinations, choosing a reliable travel agency, and complying with the safety regulations of their destination.
Yuzhong District Government Deputy Head Deng Guanghuai emphasized the need for the traveling public to understand and abide by local laws, customs, religious beliefs and create a good image for Chinese tourists whenever they visit other countries.
The Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing was among the five Consulates General which gave a briefing, not only on their respective countries’ famous tourist destinations but also important travel information and video presentations. The other four were the Consulates General of Italy, Hungary, Cambodia, and Japan.
In his presentation, Vice Consul Adrian G. Miras mentioned that last year, China was the second biggest inbound tourism market of the Philippines. He likewise noted that many Chinese tourists go to the Philippines to experience its beautiful beaches and nature. Traveling to the Philippines is also comparatively cheaper for the Chinese tourists as it is close to China and there are already direct flights from Chongqing to tourist destinations in the Philippines, particularly Cebu and Kalibo.
He then briefed the audience on what they need to know and prepare prior to their departure to and upon their arrival in the Philippines, as well as the different modes of getting around the country.
Vice Consul Miras also provided the participants with friendly reminders for when they travel to the Philippines, including important contact information, such as the those of the Chinese Embassy in Manila and its Consulates General in Cebu, Laoag, and Davao. END
