121st Anniversary of the Philippine Independence and the 10th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing
11 June 2019, Chongqing. The Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing celebrated the 121st Anniversary of the Philippine Independence and the 10th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing on 11 June 2019 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel-Jiefangbei.
In his message, Consul General Relacion highlighted the theme of our Independence Day Celebration, which is Tapang at Malasakit, and stated how these two values are essential to a healthy and functioning international community. He also reported the major accomplishments of the Consulate General since its establishment 10 years ago.
The Guest of Honor, Vice Mayor Qu Qian congratulated the Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing. He further mentioned the important role that the Consulate General has played in the past 10 years in promoting exchanges between the Philippines and Chongqing in various fields.
The event was attended by local Chinese officials, consular corps, and other distinguished guests from different agencies, media, and stakeholders. The Philippine Tourism Office based in Shanghai actively took part in the event. The members of the Filipino community likewise attended the celebration, which made it even more lively. Roughly 150 people were in attendance, about 70 of them were Filipinos.
The reception featured Filipino dishes prepared by Crowne Plaza and Guest Filipino Chef Michelle F. Adrillana, as well as cultural performances by the Kalilayan Folkloric Group.
