CELEBRATING THE 120TH ANNIVERSARY OF PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE WITH MEMBERS OF FILIPINO COMMUNITY IN KUNMING, YUNNAN PROVINCE
18 June 2018 -The Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing hosted a gathering for the members of the Filipino Community in Kunming, Yunnan Province on Saturday, 18 June 2018 at Kaiwah Plaza International Hotel Kunming to celebrate the 120th Anniversary of Philippine Independence.
Before the gathering for the National Day, Post conducted a consular outreach from 2:00-5:00 PM of the said date.
The gathering started with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem. In his brief remarks, Consul General Crescente R. Relacion expressed gratitude for the attendance of the members of the Filipino community and conveyed the Consulate’s readiness to assist them pursuant to the Consulate’s mandate to protect the interests and promote the welfare of overseas Filipinos. He stressed upon them to develop passion in what they are doing and encouraged them to support the leadership of the Philippine Government.
Consul General Relacion read the message of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, while Consul Duke Villanueva read the message of Secretary of Foreign Affairs Alan Peter S. Cayetano. The evening was enlivened by the singing of popular Filipino songs by members of Filipino Community.
While the guests were eating, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ video “Paghahanda sa Kinabukasan” was played to promote financial literacy. END
