Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing Opens New Premises

Chongqing, 09 April 2018 - The Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing held a soft opening of its new premises at the World Financial Center (WFC) building with the members of the Filipino community on 09 April 2018.

The Consulate transferred to the new location on the 22nd floor of the WFC building and officially opened to the public on 02 April 2018.

WFC, the highest building in the Jiefangbei area, is located in the heart of Chongqing’s central business district. It is a newer building compared to the previous building where the Consulate held office.

In her brief remarks, Consul General Olivia V. Palala welcomed and thanked Jesus Reigns Ministries (JRM) Bishop Vicente Javier Jr., who officiated at the dedication ceremony for the new premises, and the members of Filipino community for their presence. She expressed the hope that the new Consulate will provide better service in the years to come because of its bigger space, which provides more comfort and convenience to the transacting public. Consul General Palala also took the opportunity to thank each and everyone’s support and cooperation during her more than three years’ stay in Chongqing, and announced that the new Consul General is expected to arrive immediately the week after she leaves on the 14th of April 2018.

She added that the previous Consulate building was becoming too small and inadequate for the needs of the Consulate, and that’s why she initiated the search for a bigger space for the Consulate.

The members of the Filipino community were as one in expressing their appreciation for the efforts of Consul General Palala in finding a more spacious, presentable and accessible location to serve the needs of the public.

Merienda was immediately served after the dedication ceremony, with newly-flown in chicken siopao, pandesal with liver spread topping, pancit, champagne and other drinks being served to the guests. END
