VISIT OF LITTLE PRACTITIONER REPORTERS’ GROUP TO PHILIPPINE CONSULATE GENERAL, CHONGQING

Little Practitioner Reporters Group

Seventeen (17) students from different primary schools in Chongqing, who are members of Little Practitioners Reporters’ Group visited the Philippine Consulate General Chongqing last Saturday, 11 March 2017. The Little Practitioners Reporters’ Group is an organization that has set reporters’ stations in more than 30 schools in Chongqing. The children, aged -13 years old, were led by Mr. Chen Bin, Editor-in-Chief of the Young Pioneers Magazine of the Chongqing Publication Center.

The purpose of the visit is to learn about the Philippine culture and to understand the functions of the Consulate. According to Teacher Chen’s letter, they would have also wanted to interact with the children of the home-based staff but none of the Consulate children are in their age bracket, i.e. Post’s personnel have children either below the age of 3, or above the age of 25.

Post’s Administrative Officer Marietta Enriquez-Magno, and Cultural Officer,     Ms. Emelyn Cosino, together with Post’s Translator/Interpreter, Ms. Vivian Wang, were on hand to welcome Teacher Chen and the young students. The Consulate prepared a short program for them which included a power point presentation and short video about the Philippines, and ended the program with a Q and A forum.

After the program, refreshments were served to the guests which included home-made “maja blanca.” Before they left, each child received copy of the Chinese translated book Alamat”: A Selection of Philippine Folk Tales, and viewed a few stations from the Chinese-translated “Pagkain” exhibit, to learn more about Filipino food.
