In continuing celebration of the 117th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine independence, the Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing inaugurated the “Colors of Freedom” exhibit on 23 June 2015 at the lobby of the Intercontinental Hotel Chongqing.

In her opening remarks, Consul General Olivia V. Palala informed the guests that the exhibit, which is composed of eight stations, was about the history and evolution of the Philippine flag, the meaning of every color and emblem found in it and the importance of the Philippine flag to the Filipino people.

Dr. Chen Gaoshan, Deputy Director General of the Chongqing Municipal Government’s Foreign Affairs Office, the Guest of Honor, assisted the Consul General in the cutting of the ribbon to officially open the exhibit.

Aside from Chinese government officials, other Consuls Generals in Chongqing, members of the consular corps and from the academe, members of the Filipino community and their expatriate friends, attended the reception. Filipino food like chicken inasal, lumpiang shanghai and Philippine-style mango salad were among the dishes served during the cocktail.

The exhibit will run at the lobby of the Intercontinental Hotel until Sunday, 05 July 2015. END
