Xavier School Visits Chongqing: a sharing of insights and an exchange with Bashu Secondary School
Chongqing, 27 November 2024. The Philippine Consulate General received 106 Grade 12 students and 9 teachers from Xavier School of San Juan Manila, Philippines, a Jesuit Catholic college preparatory school with a distinct Chinese and Filipino character. This is the 20th year that Xavier School has sent different batches of students to China as part of its Xavier-China Experience (XCE). In this year’s XCE, the Grade 12 students visited Kunming, Yunnan, and Chongqing
During their visit to the Consulate, the students presented their group reflections and output of their visit to Kunming and Chongqing, China. The Grade 12 students also showcased their talents in singing and dancing. The Consulate also brought the students to Xi Gua Tea House to introduce the intangible heritage of tea preparation.
In the afternoon of the same day, the Xavier School students also met with students from Bashu Secondary School in Chongqing, as arranged by the Consulate through the assistance of the Chongqing Foreign Affairs Office (FAO) and Yuzhong District FAO. Students from Xavier and Bashu shared their talents and had a friendly basketball game. Bashu Secondary School is one of the most prestigious secondary schools in Chongqing with its graduates topping the national examinations.
The education cooperation between the schools is part of the Consulate’s program in building people-to-people exchanges through education and sports. END
