Filipino Community in Kunming joins 18-Day Campaign Against VAW, celebrates an Early Christmas
30 November 2024, Kunming, China. The Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing gathered the Filipino Community in Kunming to celebrate the 18-day Campaign to End VAW, emphasizing the theme “VAW Bigyang Wakas, Ngayon na ang Oras!” The Consulate emphasized PCW’s urgency of the advocacy in line with the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Anti-VAWC Act of 20024 (RA 9262).
The Consulate also presented the opportunity to join the Overseas Filipinos’ Leadership, Innovation, Financial Literacy, and Social Entrepreneurship Program of the Ateneo School of Government (ALSE OF-LIFE). ALSE OF-LIFE is a financial literacy and social entrepreneurship program that provides capability-building for overseas Filipinos (OFs), especially overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families.
The Filipino gathering was followed by a fun celebration of the Paskong Pinoy in Kunming, a thoughtful celebration integral to the Filipino culture. Filipinos in Kunming shared their talents and welcomed new members of the community. END
