17 December 2012 - The Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing, China represented by Vice Consul Duke A. Villanueva delivered a presentation on Philippine Culture and Customs at the School of International Studies at Chongqing University on 12 December 2012. The presentation was part of a lecture series organized by the university as one of the activities of the 2nd International Cultural Festival of Chongqing University from 22 November 2012 to 21 December 2012.
Vice Consul Villanueva gave a brief run through of Philippines history with the influences from each period. He also touched on the long history of trade relations between the Philippines and China which started as early as the 10th century during China's Tang Dynasty and the rich contributions of Chinese migrants to Philippine society. Topics which would be of special interest to college students such as love and courtship customs in the Philippines were also included in the lecture to the delight of the students.
Brochures on tourism and studying in the Philippines were distributed during the lecture to give the students a glimpse of travel and education opportunities in the Philippines.
The Chongqing University's School of International Education led by Deputy Dean Jiang Yan hosted a dinner for Vice Consul Villanueva after the lecture. -END
