The Philippines continues to grow in popularity in China as a tourism destination. Based on customer surveys, the Philippines recently won two tourism awards, the "Best Tourist Destination" by the Oriental Morning Post and the "Most Romantic Destination" award by the Shanghai Morning Post, on 09 January and 15 January of this year, respectively.
International travel magazines have been putting the Philippines on the map as well. Recently, CNT or Condé Nast Traveller's, a leading luxury travel magazine, included the Philippines among the top 10 destinations to watch in 2013. In the write up, CNT mentions Bicol and Siargao as a diver's destination, who come for the unspoilt and spectacular marine life, such as vibrant coral reefs, manatees and sea turtles. Bacuit Bay and other tourism hotspots in Palawan, Pamalican Island and Manila were also recommended by the travel magazine.
To meet the rising number of Chinese tourists travelling to the Philippines, Airphil Express reactivated its Shanghai-Kalibo charters on 30 November 2012; Zest Air on 10 January 2013; and Cebu on 11 January 2013.
