PH Consulate General in Chongqing joins 2024 Wuling Mountain (Xiushan)-ASEAN Cooperation & Development Forum

Chongqing, 18 October 2024 – The Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing, represented by Consul General Ivan Frank M. Olea (right photo), joins the 2024 Wuling Mountain (Xiushan)-ASEAN Cooperation & Development Forum. The event was organized by the Chongqing RCEP Investment and Trade Service Center, the Xiushan Agricultural Commission, and the Chongqing Xiushan Guanglian Inland Port Development Company.

Consul General Olea delivered a speech with the theme “Philippines-China economic and trade cooperation and fruit and frozen goods trade” with a focus on coconuts, mangoes, pineapple, coffee, banana, durian, tuna, aquaculture, and seaweed. He also expressed optimism on the role of RCEP and the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC) in improving trade competitiveness and reduction of transportation and logistics costs.

In an interview by the local media prior to the event, Consul General Olea also shared that Chongqing and Southwest China are new markets for Philippine products and that there was room for growth in trade in agricultural products.

Other participants in the event discussed the importance of RCEP and the ILSTC and opportunities for win-win solutions, especially on logistics and agriculture. END
