ADVISORY
Temporary Suspension of Entry by Foreign Nationals Holding Valid Chinese Visas or Residence Permits
The Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing wishes to inform all Filipinos under its jurisdiction, including those who are temporarily in the Philippines and are yet to return to China, that in the evening of 26 March 2020, the Chinese Government announced the temporary suspension of entry by foreign nationals holding valid visas or residence permits.
The implementation will start on 28 March 2020. The only ones exempted from the travel restriction on foreign nationals are the following:
- Holders of diplomatic, service, courtesy or C visas;
- Foreign nationals coming to China for necessary economic, trade, scientific or technological activities or out of emergency humanitarian needs who have applied for and issued visas by the Chinese Embassy or Consulates.
This measure is being implemented “in light of the outbreak situation and the practice of other countries,” according to the Chinese Government. As the situation remains fluid and is evolving, the Chinese Government will calibrate the measure accordingly.
The Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing will continue to monitor the situation and inform the Filipinos in its jurisdiction as soon as it receives other relevant information.
In the meantime, the Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing urges everyone, wherever they may be at this time, to stay safe and healthy, and continue observing good personal hygiene (e.g. frequent and proper hand washing, practice of sneeze and cough etiquettes, etc.).
27 March 2020, Chongqing.
