NOTICE TO ALL FILIPINOS
WARNING AGAINST BRINGING RESTRICTED ITEMS TO HONG KONG
The Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing informs the Filipino communities in Chongqing Municipality, Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan Provinces, that Filipino travelers transiting or entering Hong Kong are prohibited from bringing restricted items, particularly stunning devices, in their hand-carried or checked-in luggage.
Stun guns, pepper sprays, and other devices such as tear gas, bullets, extendible batons, flick knives and knuckledusters are considered “arms” and therefore restricted under Firearms and Ammunition Ordinance in Hong Kong.
The unlicensed possession of the aforementioned items is punishable by a fine of HK$100,000 (around Php674,000) and a maximum sentence of five (5) years in prison under Section 10 Aviation Security Ordinance, Chapter 494, and Laws of Hong Kong.
The Hong Kong authorities are strict with the enforcement of the said Ordinance. All hand-carried and checked-in luggage of passengers are subjected to security screening in the airport terminals.
