NOTICE ON THE REVISED RULES OF PROCEDURE FOR SMALL CLAIMS CASES
The Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing, wishes to inform all Filipinos under the Consulate’s jurisdiction on the Supreme Court’s 2016 Revised Rules of Procedure for Small Claims Cases (A.M. No. 08-8-7-SC), which took effect on 01 February 2016.
The Revised Rules allow litigants to file their money claims from a ceiling of PhP 100,000 to a new ceiling of PhP 200,000, exclusive of interest and costs, without the assistance of a lawyer.
It states that the rules apply in all actions that are purely civil in nature where the claim or relief prayed for by the plaintiff is solely for payment or reimbursement of a sum of money.
