17 November 2019, Kunming. The Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing conducted a consular outreach and organized a get-together Christmas gathering for the members of the Filipino Community in Kunming and other cities in Yunnan Province on Saturday, 16 November 2019 at Kunming Kaiwah Plaza International Hotel.
During the program, Vice Consul Adrian Miras gave some reminders on the Consulate’s notices and advisories on consular services. He also informed the Filipino Community that the Philippine Commission on Women has an 18-Day campaign to end violence against women (VAW), which will commence on 25 November until 12 December 2019. The brochures on VAW and Anti-Trafficking in Persons, including the Reminders to Filipinos in China, were distributed to the Filipinos present in the event. He also informed the members of Filcom in attendance of the resumption of overseas registration for 09 May 2022 Presidential elections, which will commence on 16 December 2019 until 30 September 2021.
In Consul General Relacion's Christmas message, he expressed his gratitude for the attendance of the members of the Filipino community in the Consulate’s organized event and thanked them for their support to the Consulate’s activities. He also reminded them of the importance of Jesus Christ in everyone’s life and that He is everything we needed most. He added that we should forget about the problems and instead focus on the blessings that God gave us.
The Community presented the undersigned with a token of appreciation for service rendered as Consul General.
The program was enlivened by the group singing of Christmas songs, games facilitated by the member of the Filipino Community. A sumptuous dinner was shared among Filipinos after the program. More than 60 guests from Kunming attended the gathering including former Filipinos who are now American citizens working as educators with their families.
The team was likewise able to update the contact information of some of the 73 Filipinos based in Yunnan in the master list of registered Filipinos, which is being maintained by the Consulate. END
